Your Guide to Lip Fillers

Let’s talk about lip fillers… The most popular of all dermal fillers both in Perth and around the world.

What are Lip Fillers?

Lip filler is a form of minor and temporary procedure where a Dermal Filler, also known as a hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the lips to give shape or volume.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally existing sugar in the lips, which diminishes with age, hence the demand to re-inject it into different areas of our bodies (such as cheeks, chin, jawline). There are a large number of hyaluronic gel brands which can be animal sourced or plant sourced. It is due to this that the prices and end results may vary.

Remember – a cheap filler is not a good filler!

Why are lip fillers so popular?

Lip fillers are becoming exceedingly more popular as the years pass. This can be related to the increase of social media culture, lip trends, and the increase of celebrities admitting to their procedures – such as Kylie Jenner and Blake Lively.

Why do people get lip fillers?

Cosmetic injectables, which include lip fillers, can achieve a range of results. Lip fillers can be used to create a more noticeable smile, to correct an imperfection, or to gain more volume, each person’s needs and wants are different.

Define lip shape

If a patient finds a flaw in their lip shape (such as one side of the lip is smaller than the other) we can inject the dermal filler to even the lips out. Others come to accentuate their cupids bow, giving a perkier, plumper look or just want to accentuate their lip line to be more defined.

Increase lip volume

Dermal filler is injected into the lips to give them a fuller look. Patients with naturally thin lips can get lip fillers to achieve the shape and volume they desire all the while still achieving natural looking results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do the filler treatments take?

Usually the process takes about 45 minutes, which includes the application of the numbing cream and injecting the filler.

Do lip injections hurt?

We use a numbing cream, which takes around 15-20 minutes to numb. Once the numbing begins, you may feel a small pinch – some clients say it is similar to a bee sting or mosquito bite.

Every individual is different, and it’s hard to tell how your body will react to the filler. A few side effects include bruising and swelling, or you may see a feel small lumps. All of this is perfectly natural.
