Popular Cosmetic Injectable Treatments and Their Benefits

The London Clinic offers a wide range of injectable cosmetic treatments to help our clients look and feel their best. Cosmetic injections help to smooth, plump, and correct the skin in various areas across the face, jaw, and neck.

Some of the popular cosmetic injectable treatments that we offer include:

Wrinkle Relaxers

Wrinkle relaxers are made up of a protein that temporarily blocks the nerve signal from the brain to the specific muscle at the injection site, stopping it from moving. Once the muscle can no longer move, the line/wrinkle in this area will be smoothed out.

Where is it injected?

Wrinkle Relaxer can be injected to treat the following areas:

  • Forehead
  • Frown lines/ Glabella (between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Jowls – loose skin around the mouth, cheeks, and jaw
  • Around the lips
  • Bunny lines (at the top of the nose, between the nose and eyes)
  • Underarms and around face to reduce sweating

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles to give the skin a younger and fresher appearance.
  • Give the skin a plumper appearance.
  • Reduce sweating in the underarms and face.

Lip Filler

Lip fillers are made of a synthetic hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in our bodies and is completely safe to inject. Lip filler works to define lip shape, accentuate your cupid’s bow, and correct asymmetry. It also increases the volume, plumpness, and fullness of the lips.

Where is it injected?

The lip filler is injected around the edges of the mouth and in the lips. The precise location of the injection on the lips will depend on the goals for the lip filler, e.g. Correcting asymmetry or increasing volume.

The London Clinic favours the cannula method for lip injections rather than the needle method. This causes less bruising and swelling post-injections. For more information on lip fillers, please see our articleYour Guide to Lip Fillers.

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Achieve fuller, softer, plumper lips
  • Very natural-looking results
  • Defined lip shape
  • The effects of the lip filler can last between 6-18 months.

Chin Filler

Chin filler utilises the same substance as lip fillers, hyaluronic acid, to help define the line of your chin.

Where is it injected?

The filler is injected around the chin and then massaged into place by your therapist to set the fillers.

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Defined chin contour to make the face appear slimmer.
  • Correct asymmetry in the chin.
  • Strong side profile and natural-looking results.

Jaw Filler

Jaw and chin fillers are often used in conjunction to achieve the appearance of a sharper-looking jawline and slimmer face. Jaw filler utilises the same dermal filler (hyaluronic acid) as in the lip and chin filler.

Where is it injected?

The filler is injected around and under the jawline. The therapist will then massage the filler into place to set it properly.

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Define the jawline and give the face a slimmer appearance.
  • Create a stronger profile.
  • Provides the skin with a plumper and fresher appearance.

Tear Trough Filler

The tear trough is the deep crease under your eye. This may become more pronounced when you smile, and your cheeks push up underneath your eyes. A shadow can appear underneath the eye in this area and give the appearance of dark circles. Tear troughs are genetic and tend to become more prominent with age.

Tear trough filler (hyaluronic acid) increases the volume under the eye to avoid the appearance of the shadow and reduce the look of tiredness.

Where is it injected?

The filler will be carefully injected under the eye and massaged to set the filler in place.

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Reduce the appearance of dark circles.
  • Reduce the appearance of sagging skin under the eye.
  • Make the skin in the tear trough area appear fuller and tighter, giving a younger and fresher appearance.
  • The effects of the filler can last between 6-12 months.

Beauty Boosters

Beauty boosters or ‘skin boosters’ work to deeply hydrate the skin, penetrating a deeper level of the dermis than topical skincare. The treatment involves microinjections of hyaluronic acid to improve the structure of the skin and skin elasticity.

Where is it injected?

The beauty boosters can be used on all skin types and are particularly useful for correcting acne scarring and sun-damaged areas. It can be used in areas including:

  • Face
  • Lips
  • Neck
  • Hands
  • Decolletage

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Improves skin elasticity, firmness, and radiance to give a fresher appearance.
  • Improves the appearance of acne scarring and sun damage.
  • Immensely improves skin hydration for those with perpetually dry skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment

Utilising platelet rich plasma within non-surgical cosmetical treatments is a relatively new but highly sought after injectable treatment. The PRP is often 5-10 times richer in platelets than typical blood. In being platelet rich, the plasma contains hundreds of different growth factor proteins that promote healing and rejuvenation.

The Platelet Rich Plasma treatment utilises platelets sourced from your own body and injects them into your skin. The reinjected PRP causes new skin cells to grow, stimulates collagen production, improving the volume and plumpness of the skin to give a younger and fresher appearance.

The PRP is created onsite using a small amount of your own blood. This is imperative as it prevents the risk of adverse or allergic reactions to the treatment. The blood sample is placed in a centrifugal machine that separates the cells within your blood and allows us to extract the PRP. The PRP is then injected into areas of concern.

Where can it be injected?

The PRP can be injected anywhere into the face or neck to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve skin elasticity. This may include:

  • Forehead
  • Frown lines/ Glabella (between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Jowls – loose skin around the mouth, cheeks, and jaw
  • Smile lines and around the lips
  • Cheeks
  • Bunny lines (at the top of the nose, between the nose and eyes)

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Immense improvement in skin elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Just three treatments can last for up to 2 years.
  • Younger and fresher appearance of the skin with improved volume and plumpness.

Midface Rejuvenation

Midface rejuvenation involves injectable cosmetic treatments treating the lower cheek, marionette lines (lines curving from the corners of the mouth downwards towards the chin), and nasolabial folds (lines turning from the nose towards the mouth around the edge of the cheek). These areas are commonly affected by aging and loss of volume in the skin. Midface rejuvenation treatments may include dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid), wrinkle relaxers, or PRP.

Where is it injected?

The midface rejuvenation treatments take place in the mid and lower half of the face, specifically with the cheeks and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

Benefits of the treatment:

  • Improves volume and plumpness of skin.
  • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and makes the skin look brighter.
  • Treatments can last up to 18 months, depending on which cosmetic injectables are used.
